Rocket Man - Craft Roulette #266

Hello friends!  I am trying something new.  I have been watching Craft Roulette for awhile and always play along in my head. Meaning, I see what the parameters are and then think about what kind of card I would make and submit.  Well... I am finally jumping in and this is going to be my first submission.  If you don't know what Craft Roulette is, stop by their website and take a peak.  

The short of it is; it is a weekly challenge, Mary Gunn FUNN has a guest and the two of them make a card based on particular parameters.  To get the parameters, they spin a roulette wheel and what it lands on is the parameter of a particular category.  

This weeks parameters are:

Project - A7 Card - My card is an A-7 luckily because there is a lot on it.
Colors - Floral Wreath -  I chose very bright colors
Element - Lyric(S) - Rocket Man by Elton John
Random - Cinco - I have five planets on my card

All of the dies and stencils are from Trinity Stamps.

For this card, I inked the background with Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink.  I started with a piece of cardstock cut to 5" x 7".  As I was inking the card I was thinking about a way I could you the Starfield Letterpress Die.  I figured that I could make it work if I cut down my background to 4.5" x 6.5" if I had a border at the bottom.  So I cut  down my inked background and foiled it using the Silver Holographic Speckles from Spellbinders. I also blended the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink to create more of an outer space sky.

I used the Crater Layers Layering Stencil & Coordinating Die Set to add a moon surface for the bottom of my card.  I used the die in the set to cut out the border from yellow cardstock and then I used the stencil with some Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Ink to add the craters, cracks and creases.  

I cut the Astronaut using paper cardstock scrap and the Tiny Astronaut Die Set.  I always like to dust my die cut edges with a little Distress Oxide Ink.  The ink colors I used for him are, Hickory Smoke and Chipped Sapphire.  

My rocket is cut from scrap cardstock using the Blast Off Die Set.  I used Hickory Smoke, Carved Pumpkin, and Fired Brick Distress Oxide Ink to dust the edges.  

My planets are cut from the planets that are included in the Flight Deck Die Set.  Again, they were cut from scrap and I used the same colors as on the rocket and Astronaut except I added Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Ink.

For my lettering, I used the Graham Cracker Alphabet Die Set with a fairly bright orange cardstock.

To finish my card, I glued the planets to the background and popped up the rocket and Astronaut with foam dots to give my card just a little dimension.  Once everything was put together, I glued the finished piece to a piece of black cardstock that was cut to 5" x 7".

I am over the moon crazy about this card!  I think it turned out adorbs.  I was a bit intimidated by the A-7 size, but I needed every bit of that surface area.

Today I have a card with my dream car on it and I thought I might combine it with a background that had a vintage 70’s vibe. I hope you have great and fun summer!

Greetings!  I created another shaker card featuring "Al", the Alien, and his Astronaut friend.  Trinity Stamps hit it out of the ballpark with this collection.  

Greetings!  I created another shaker card featuring "Al", the Alien, and his Astronaut friend.  Trinity Stamps hit it out of the ballpark with this collection.  

The background was made using the Space Fog Stencil along with Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon, and Squeezed Lemonade.  I have so much on top of the background that it is hard to really see it.  I really like this background because it gives the maker some guidance to create a flowy background.  

The shaker element is created from the Tiny UFO Die Set.  When I make shakers that aren't a simple shape such as a square or a rectangle, I like to use the die to do it.  For this card, I cut out the upper and lower part of the space ship eight times and glued each layer together to create the well for the shaker elements.  

To assemble this piece, I used a piece of vellum, cut with the die, as the background to tone down the background inking on the card.  I also used the die to cut the acetate that seals the shaker elements inside.  Before I sealed everything up, I adhered my Alien, which was cut from the Tiny Alien Die, and sprinkled in my litter shaker pieces, from the Celestial Skies Mix.

For the top of the shaker, I used various colors of cardstock.  I like the way this die allows the maker to mix and match the individual pieces - the combinations are just endless.  

I wanted to tether the Astronaut to the space ship, so I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Trails Hot Foil Plates Lawn Cuts.  These are the dies that cut out the foiled trails.  I cut the "rope" four times to create some height and then covered it with one cut from foiled cardstock.   

The Astronaut was created with cardstock scrap using the Tiny Astronaut Die.  He is such a cute little fellow!

Once I adhered everything to the card, I needed something for the bottom right corner.  After shopping my stash, I grabbed my Mini Winter Greetings Die Set and used it to create my sentiment. Perfect!!!

Happy Birthday Earthling!

Hello again friends.  Today I have a really colorful and fun shaker card that I made using the goodies from Trinity Stamps.  This is such a fun release - I think I will be busy all summer.  

To start this card, I used the new Space Fog Stencil with Wilted Violet and Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Ink.  I found that it was easiest to ink in the stencil openings and then, using the masks, inking in the background.  Once I was done with the inking, I went back and softened the edges  by doing a little more blending.  

I used Citrine Glimmer Foil and the Starfield Letterpress to add some stars to my outer space sky.  Once I had foiled my background, I used the A-2 Clean Cut Layers Rectangles Set A to cut it to 4" x 5.25".  I also dusted the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink to give it more of a space feel.

Using the Crater Layers Stencil and Coordinating Dies to create a surface for my alien friend to stand on.  I used Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Ink.  I heat embossed the sentiment on the moon surface using black embossing powder.  I used a sentiment from the We've Come For Cake Stamp Set.  I also used another sentiment from this stamp set for the inside of the card.  

I needed to have the moon surface and my alien created so I knew where I wanted to place my flying saucer and beam.  The adorable alien is cut from green cardstock using the Tiny Alien Die Set.  I placed the beam from the Tiny UFO Die Set to cut an opening in my background.  This is the shaker opening.  

I cut a piece of black cardstock the same size as my shaker top, 4.25" x 5, and glued the beam cut out piece behind the opening.  Using two layers of foam tape, I created a well for my shaker pieces and support for the rest of my card front.  The shaker pieces are,  Multicolor Meteorite Embellishment Mix.  This mix is absolutely beautiful.  

I applied glue tape around the beam opening and placed a piece of acetate on top to create the window.  I removed the protective tape from foam tape and placed the top on top of the foam tape to seal in the shaker elements.  

I used scrap paper in various colors to create my flying saucer and planet.  I glued all the pieces on the top piece to finish the front of the card.

For the inside of the card, I used some of the scrap background with the stars to trim the top and the bottom of my sentiment piece.  That is a really nice way to tie the front in with the inside.
