I created this card for Lawn Fawn's Challenge #203 - Fun With Food. I hadn't had a chance to play with their Build-A-Cake die yet and just got the Build-A-Jack-'o-Lantern, so I decided to use them for this card. And of course, it had to be a Halloween cake!
To created the background for this card, I inked blended a piece of white cardstock with Salty Ocean and Prize Ribbon. Then I cut a spider web background from pearlescent vellum using the Spiderweb Backdrop. Because vellum doesn't play well with glue, I glued the edges of the backdrop to the inked background and then trimmed it out with a purple cardstock frame cut with the Stitched Rectangle Frames die.
I used different colors of cardstock to build my cake. I like to dust my die cut pieces with Distress Oxide Inks to give them some dimension. For this card I used Villainous Potion, Crackling Campfire, Rustic Wilderness, and Carved Pumpkin.
For the top layer of my card, I used the Starry Sky Hot Foil Background with black glimmer foil on orange cardstock. I had thought about using the foiled cardstock for the base layer of the cake but it was just too busy. For the bottom layer, I added a spiderweb and spiders cut from black cardstock using the Cute Cobweb die.
To make my cake a little more spooky, I used the "goo drip" from the Build-A-Cauldron die. I also made the tops of the cake layers green with silver glitter sparkles.
I used Henry's Build A Sentiment: Fall stamp set for the sentiment banner on the top of the cake. It just fit perfectly.
When I glued my cake to the background, I offset it to the left so I had some room for my Pumpkin filled with candy. I used the Build-A-Jack-'o-Lantern die to cut out my pumkin. The candy inside was cut using the dies included with the Build-A-Cauldron die.
Once I had everything glued to the card, I felt like it needed a few little ghosts so I cut some using the ghot dies that were included with the Spooky Forest Backdrop.
This turned out to be such a cute and fun card - I just love it.
Thank you for stopping by today!
