Trick Or Cheese!

Hello!!!  I have loved the Lawn Fawn Mice for forever and have been hoping that one of these Fall Releases they would have Halloween mice.  I don't have to wait any longer because this was the year!!! How cute are these???  The stamp and coordinating die set are called Halloween Mice.

It has been awhile since I have made a Reveal Wheel or used my Build A House Halloween Add On, so that is what I did for this card.

To start, I ink blended the background using Twisted Citron and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink.  I used the Reveal Wheel Die along with the Reveal Wheel Build A House Add On.  Make sure you keep the notch piece that is cut out - you will need it later.  I also used the Hillside Stencils to add a hillside in using Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Ink.  I stenciled the hillside instead of cutting one from cardstock because I didn't want my card to get too bulky.  I also spattered the background with some silver metallic watercolor.

I wanted to use the Spooky Forest Backdrop, but it was bigger than the Reveal Wheel piece.  I adhered the cut backdrop all the way to the left side of the card and centered in vertically in the opening.  I trimmed off the excess backdrop.  That worked really well because I didn't want a bunch of branches at the mechanism notch on the right side.

Once I cut the large spinner piece from the Reveal Wheel Die Set, I temporarily taped the coordinating stencil to help me place the images that appear in the window.  I used the Spooky Village stamp set for the images in the window.  I did have to cut out the lines that seperated the window opening because you couldn't read the the little sentiments.

I used a Copic marker to color the whole wheel yellow so my ghosts stayed white.

Once I built my house using the both the Build A House and Build A House Halloween Add On, I glued it to the background lining it up with the window.

I built my mechanism and placed foam dots around the wheel making sure that it was still able to move freely.  I placed my placed my background piece on top lining up the edges and notch.

I took the ink blended piece that I cut the Reveal Wheel background from and cut the notch off so that I could fill in the opening at the notch.

Once I had the mechanism built, I glued on a piece of cardstock cut to 4.25" x 5.5".  Then I glued in the little notch piece so that the background continued to the edge.

Next I stamped out the Mice from the Halloween Mice stamp set and colored them with the following colors:

  • YR21, YR23, YR24
  • T2, T5, T7
  • Y35, YR16, YR09
  • R20, R22
  • RV10, RV02
  • Y02. Y13, Y17
  • E42, E43, E44
  • BG000
I used the coordinating dies to cut out my little friends and other items.  I popped all of them up with thin foam dots to give my card just a little dimension. I also used the All The Speech Bubbles stamps and die to make the little speech bubble above their heads using the sentiments included with the Halloween Mice set.

This card is just so stinkin cute with them Trick Or Cheesing.  Adorbs!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Creepin It Real!

Hi there!  Just a quick on for today.  Riley and Company has some really fun new Halloween Cut Ups that were just released a week or so ago.  I just couldn't resist because they make such great backgrounds for stamped images.  I had a few little friends from the Spooky Hollow Boo and Cute Little Devil stamp sets left over from an afternoon of coloring, so I used them.

For the background on this card, I ink blended Mustard Seed, Uncharted Mariner, Speckled Egg, Crushed Olive and Forest Moss Distress Oxide Ink.  This is a color combination I hadn't used before but it definitely has a spooky vibe don't you think.

The haunted house and spooky tree were cut from black cardstock using the new Haunted House Cut Up.  For the super cool moon, I used the Moon and Bats Cut Up to cut it from Yellow cardstock.  The coolest think about that die is that it has a built in stencil for the craters on the moon.  Amaze-balls.

I used silver embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment.  In retrospect, I think that black embossing powder would have look better.  Next time!  The sentiment is from the Spooky Hollow Boo stamp set.

My little friends were colored with Copic markers in the following colors:

  • R17, R29, R39
  • C1, C3, C5, C7
  • YR30,  E30, E51
I hope these little guys are living their best Halloween lives!

Thanks for stopping by.

My Creepy Little Friend!

Hello friends!  Today I am playing with Riley & Company's Halloween goodies. They just had a new release of Halloween Cut Ups which of course, I had to get.  This card has last year's Spooky Hollow Ghoul stamp set and the new Spooky Forest Cut Up

I inked blended the background with Twisted Citron, Broken China and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink.  I spritzed it with a little water and spattered it with some watered down silver metallic water color paint..

I then adhered the Spooky Forest Trees which had been cut from black cardstock.  I added a few bats that were also cut from that die set.  My bats were cut from black glittered cardstock.

I used the sentiment from the Spooky Hollow Boo set and heat embossed it with white embossing powder between the trees and above my spooky little friends.

I colored my friends with Copic markers in the following colors:

  • C1, C3, C5, C7
  • YR30,  E30, E51
  • R17, R29, R39
  • YG00, YG01, YG05
Oh so spooky!!!  These little guys are so fun to color - I hope you decide to give them a try!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Leaf It To Love - Craft Roulette #281

Hello!  Today I have a card that I submitted for Craft Roulette - Episode 281.  The parameters were perfect for a stamp that I have been wanting to play with for awhile!  The stamp is from Unity Stamps and it is called Leaf It To Love.  This little fellow is just so darn cute I just couldn't resist getting him.

The parameters for this week are:

Project: 4" x 6" card.

This was pretty easy, however, I have to say that I have never created a card this size.

Element:  From a tree

It would be hard to miss the giant leaf that the mouse is holding.

Colors:  Coffee isle

Lots of shades of brown is what I thought of.

Random:  Outside the line

I added color outside the lines of the image.

The coloring was done with Copic markers in the following colors:

  • YR30, E50, E51, R01, R11 - Mouse
  • B91, B21, B34 - Mouse Scarf
  • E07, E09, YR16 - Leaf
  • YR68, YR07, YR16 - Leaf Heart
  • E30, E31, E33 - Ground
  • G20 - Outside Shadow Around the Mouse

The one thing that I love about most of Unity Stamps stamps are that they are so quick to color.  You can add as much or as little color as you want because the line work in the illustration does a lot of the work.

Once I had my image colored, I use a deckle edge die to cut it out and added a little color to the edges.

I dug through my patterned paper and pulled out some old paper from Authentique.  I cut that to size and then added a small strip of coordinating paper to balance out the card. I also added a little twine for texture.

I think this turned out super cute and I was so happy to be able to use a new stamp.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Fall Y'All!

Oh my...these little mice are working from sunrise to sunset to harvest their amazing crops!  I love how we are able to build such fun scenes with Lawn Fawn's mice.  For this card, I decided to use the gourds, apples and corn from the new Spring Basket Add On: Fall for my mice to harvest.  This fit perfectly in the little soil plots, and wheelbarrow.

I also made this a slider card with Pear Blossom Press's new Snap and Slide disks.  Those little things are a game changer for sliders.  They are so easy and quick to use.

I used the Large Slimline with Sliders die set to cut out my base and the first hill layer of my card. I ink blended the background with Squeezed Lemonade and Carved Pumpkin.   I used the Slimline Stitched Hillside Border to cut my hillsides from Candy Bar and Algae cardstock.

To build my card, I used 2mm strips of 1/8" foam strips to create the channel for my slider and to go around my hills.  Since I used the tractor and the wagon from Hay There Hayrides, I used two sliders to support and slide them.

I colored images from Hay There Hayrides, Veggie Happy, Hay There and Spring Basket Add On: Fall Stamp and Die sets using Copic markers.

For the sentiments, I used the new Scripty Fall die and Henry's Build A Sentiment: Fall.  I cut the Scripty Fall from a piece of the new Favorite Flannel Fall patterned paper and backed it with a piece of Paper Bag cardstock.

It had been awhile since I had made a slimline or slider card and I couldn't be more thrilled with the way these turned out.  I hope you have found a little inspiration to create a fun little harvest card of your own.

Thank you for stopping by!

Sweet Halloween Greetings!

I created this card for Lawn Fawn's Challenge #203 - Fun With Food.  I hadn't had a chance to play with their Build-A-Cake die yet and just got the Build-A-Jack-'o-Lantern, so I decided to use them for this card.  And of course, it had to be a Halloween cake!

To created the background for this card, I inked blended a piece of white cardstock with Salty Ocean and Prize Ribbon.  Then I cut a spider web background from pearlescent vellum using the Spiderweb Backdrop.  Because vellum doesn't play well with glue, I glued the edges of the backdrop to the inked background and then trimmed it out with a purple cardstock frame cut with the Stitched Rectangle Frames die.

I used different colors of cardstock to build my cake.  I like to dust my die cut pieces with Distress Oxide Inks to give them some dimension.  For this card I used Villainous Potion, Crackling Campfire, Rustic Wilderness, and Carved Pumpkin.

For the top layer of my card, I used the Starry Sky Hot Foil Background with black glimmer foil on orange cardstock.  I had thought about using the foiled cardstock for the base layer of the cake but it was just too busy.  For the bottom layer, I added a spiderweb and spiders cut from black cardstock using the Cute Cobweb die.

To make my cake a little more spooky, I used the "goo drip" from the Build-A-Cauldron die.  I also made the tops of the cake layers green with silver glitter sparkles.

I used Henry's Build A Sentiment: Fall stamp set for the sentiment banner on the top of the cake. It just fit perfectly.

When I glued my cake to the background, I offset it to the left so I had some room for my Pumpkin filled with candy.  I used the Build-A-Jack-'o-Lantern die to cut out my pumkin.  The candy inside was cut using the dies included with the Build-A-Cauldron die.

Once I had everything glued to the card, I felt like it needed a few little ghosts so I cut some using the ghot dies that were included with the Spooky Forest Backdrop.

This turned out to be such a cute and fun card - I just love it.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Christmas Cuckoo Clock

Cuckoo clocks remind me of my Grandpa and Grandma.  My Grandpa's family were immigrants from Germany and while I never met them, I loved to listen to my Grandpa pray in German.  When I saw the Cuckoo Cottage Collection from Spellbinders, I knew I had to have them.

For this card, I wanted a Christmas card, but I wanted it to be more woodsy than cute, so I used just a few of the pieces from the Chiming Christmas Etched Dies along with the Cuckoo Cottage Etched Dies.  The inner background for my card was created with the Bow & Bell Scallop Frame with Christmas colors of papers.

I used the Snap and Slide disk from Pear Blossom Press to make my pendulum swing.  I think that the main purpose for these disks are for slider cards but they also work well for cards that have swinging elements. Once I determined where I wanted my pendulum to hang on my card, I used a die about 3/8" to cut a circle opening.  Once I had the disks snapped together, I felt like I needed to place foam tape on the back of my background to even the paper with the height of the disk.

Once I had my foam in place, I peeled off the protective tape and placed it on my card background.  the picture below shows that there is a good amount of space between the cardstock and the top of the disk for the pendulum to swing.

Next I snapped the pendulum in between to the two disks.

I needed to lift my cuckoo clock up so that the pendulum could swing back and forth, so I added foam tape to the back of my clock.  The I adhered it to over the pendulum.

Once I had my clock in place, I added the pull chain pieces, making sure that they were glued down well so that the pendulum doesn't get caught up on them.

I just love all the little details on each piece of this clock!

Thank you for stopping by today.

Tick Tock Halloween Cuckoo Clock

Oh my goodness, this cuckoo clock screams Halloween.  This card was created the new Spellbinders Cuckoo Cottage Etched Dies and the Tick Tock Halloween Add On.  If the Halloween theme wasn't enough, I stepped it up by adding a light behind the bat and making the pendulum swing.  I used Pear Blossom Press's Candle Light and their new Snap and Slide disks.

I had every intention of recording the process on this card because of the two interactive elements, but the video gods were not on my side.  Boy I hate when that happens. So for this card, I am just going to list the supplies I used and will try again on another card.  I think I will do a cute Christmas themed card in a few weeks.

SUPPLIES:

    SPELLBINDERS:

  •  Cuckoo Cottage Etched Dies
  •  Tick Tock Halloween Add On
  • Bow & Bell Scallop Frame Etched Dies

    PEAR BLOSSOM PRESS:

  • Candle Light
  • Snap 'n Slide Disk
  • Stick Spots
  • PB Press Stamp and Die Bundle

SCRAPBOOK.COM:

  • Double Sided Adhesive Foam Roll - 3mm
  • Double Sided Adhesice Foam Roall - 2 mm

I really enjoyed making this card and have already created a Woodland type Christmas card that I will share in the next day or so.

Thank you for stopping by!

Field Of Dreams

Today I have a really sweet Fall card that I submitted for the Pink & Main August Challenge.  This month was a sketch challenge.  I am crazy about the new Field Of Dreams little friends.  They are just so darn cute!

I like sketch challenges because it gives me a clear idea of my card layout.  I knew that I wanted to use one of the little scarecrows, so I went to my printed paper stash and found this older Carta Bella - Welcome Autumn.

I used Copic markers to color this little fella, his friend and the flowers in the following colors:

  • C1, C3, C5, C7
  • E41, E42, E43
  • G20, G21, G24
  • E29, E39
  • Y26, Y23, Y24 - Straw
  • E08, E09, YR24 - Outfit
  • R20

This was such a fun and quick card to make.  I am looking forward to coloring all this little guys.  I'll be sure to share it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Spe-Shell Day - Craft Roulette #279

This is my entry for Craft Roulette - episode #279.  Other than the card I made at Paperganza, it has been a little bit since I have submitted a card.  Pink and Main was a vendor at Paperganza, so while I was there I picked up a few sets.  They have some really cute things that have been so fun to color.

The parameters for this card are:

PROJECT - Kids Card

ELEMENT - Pictures

COLORS - Theater

RANDOM - 1/2 and 12

I didn't really have anything stamp or other with kids on it, so I decided I would do something that kids would enjoy doing.  This little turtles looks like his is living his best life building a sand castle on the beach.  The stamp set I used is Pink and Main's Spe-Shell Day.

I colored it with Copic markers in the following colors:

  • E42, E31, E55, E25
  • Y13, Y19
  • B21, B23
  • R21, R22
  • YR04, YR07
  • YG13, YG05, YG25
  • C0

For the picture element, I cut a piece of white cardstock 2.5" x 2.75".  I cut an opening inside the rectangle cardstock using a craft knife to make a Polaroid frame.  I added a little Copic - C0, marker on the edges to soften them.  Once I had my image colored, I glued the frame on top and trimmed it to create my picture.  I used one of the sentiments in the stamp set for the bottom of my picture.

I struggled a little bit on the colors, so I decided on a colorful stripe similar to Joseph's Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

For the random half and half, I used Pink and Main's Hexagon Flip Card Die.  It was perfect!!!!

To finish up my card, I used another sentiment from the stamp set on the inside of the card.

This card turned out so cute!!!  I don't know what I was stressing over.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing day!

Something To Crow About

Hello!  Every now and then a stamp set comes along that just sings to me heart.  These little scarecrows did just that!  They are from Pink and Main.  The stamp set is called The Field Of Dreams.  It is just adorable.

I created my own background using a hillside and cloud stencil.  The colors that I used are Sage and Slumber from Pink Fresh.

I used Copic markers to color these little friends, crows and flowers in the following colors:

C1, C3, C5, C7

E41, E42, E43

G20, G21, G24

E29, E39

Y26, YR23, YR24 - Straw

E08, E09, YR24 - Outfit

R20

BV00, BV11, V25

R83, RV34, R56

B21, B45, B37

Once I had them colored, I added some gel pen highlights and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I glued the flowers behind the scarecrows following the line of the hillside.  I popped up the scarecrows and crows with foam tape.  I used the sentiment from the stamp set.  I stamped it on cardstock, cut it out and popped it up on foam tape also.

This was such a fun card to create!  I just love it!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!!!

Eye Think You Are Souper!

Hello friends!!  I hope the summer has been good for you.  We only have a few weeks left in August - which is hard to believe.  This is my favorite time of year for cardmaking.  I love, love, love making Halloween cards.  It is always fun to incorporate stamps and dies since last Halloween even if they aren't seasonal - which is what this punny card is all about.  All the stamps and dies are from Trinity Stamps.

I wasn't quite sure where or how the bowl of eyeball soup would fit on this card, so I put the sentiment on first.  I used the new Sundae Swirl Alphabet for the "Eye Think You Are".  The "Souper" is from the Souper stamp set for the white heat embossing and the Soup Can Card Die Set for the shadow. The spoon in the bowl is also from the Soup Can Card Die Set.

The soup bowl is from the Alphabet Soup Die.  I used a bright green cardstock for the soup.  To give it a little shimmer, I spritzed with Rustic Wildness Distress Spritz after I dusted the edges with a little Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Ink.  The bowl is cut from purple cardstock and dusted with Villainous Potion on the edges.

The eyeballs are cut from the Scream and Sugar Mug Add On Die Set.  I cut them from white cardstock and then touched up the edges with a very light blue Copic Marker.  I added a white highlight on the pupil using a gel pen.  I orange pieces are also from the same die.  The yellow eyes are cut from yellow cardstock using the Eerie Eyes Die Set.

To finish the front of the card, I used Starlight Confetti to fill in the open spaces and give the card a little glitz.

For the inside of my card, I used the Simply Sentimental: Halloween Stamp Set to create the sentiment.

This card was so fun and quick to make.  It just makes me chuckle.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are having a great summer!

Oh Sheet!

Oh No!  Somebody got stuck in the candy jar! Better turn on the lights!

I had so much fun making this card. It is not only a shaker card, but I put lights from Pear Blossom Press inside the jar.  The candy jar is part of the new release from Trinity Stamps.

Better

The first thing I did for this card was foil a piece of blue cardstock using silver glimmer foil and the Starfield Letterpress plate.  I also used two of the Clean Cut Layers Rectangle: A-2 Set A to cut out a frame from glitter cardstock.

My ghosts for this card are stamped and heat embossed with black powder on vellum.  Since the ghosts are suspended between the candy jar and the outside frame, I needed to fortify the vellum paper.  I stamped, heat embossed and die cut them from one layer of vellum paper.  I adhered wide double sided adhesive tape to another piece of vellum and then used the dies to cut another layer.  Although I could have just adhered to two pieces together and then stamped and cut, I wasn't sure how the vellum and adhesive would respond to the heat tool, plus, I needed to add a small piece of acetate to the ghost that is in the jar.  I wanted him suspended in there.

When I make shaker cards that have a details shape, I like to make the "well" portion from layers of cardstock cut with the die. I used the die to cut out 8 pieces.  I glued 5 together, set them aside and glued the other 3 together with a piece of acetate cut to size on top.  I glued the ghost with the acetate between the two.  This make the ghost appear to be suspended in the jar.  I also used the stamp with silver embossing powder for the top layer of the jar.

Before I glue on my shaker pieces, I want to finish decorating the foiled cardstock and place the light on the back.  I just laid my one candy jar piece where I would be eventually gluing it and then glued stars that I had cut from the glitter cardstock around the outside of the jar.  For the inside of the jar I glued stars where I wanted the lights to show through.

Once the glue on the stars dried, I used my pokey tool to poke holes in the starts that were going to have lights shining through.

On the backside of my background, I placed and taped my lights in the three openings and adhered my battery piece in the lower left corner making sure that it was inside the glittered frame.

With the lights and the button in place, I placed a spider that was cut using a die from the Halloween Cut Dress Up Die Set that was embossed with the word "push" from the Papercrafting Magic Stamp Set on the front left corner.

I adhered foam tape on the back of the background piece to give the button some clearance to be pushed from the front.  I peeled the protective tape off and adhered to to a card base made from 5.5" x 8.5" scored at 4.25".

Next I finished the candy jar by gluing it to the background, filling the well with some Spooky Sweets Embellishment pieces. I sealed up the jar with the piece that had the acetate on it but left the the stamped and heat embossed layer off.  That is really important because it need to be on to of the glitter frame.

I put 1/4" foam tape around the outside of the card and adhered the frame on top.  The ghosts are then glued onto the candy jar.  Vellum does not play well with liquid glue, it shows through, so I used double sided adhesive to attach them.  I don't have good luck with adhesive tape on glittered cardstock, so I tucked my ghosts behind the fame at the contact points.

The "Oh Sheet" sentiment is from the die set.  I stamped it on a little tag and the "pretend tied" it to the top of the jar.

For the sentiment on the inside of the card, I used the Simply Sentimental: Halloween stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment on a piece of cardstock, 4.0" x 5.25".  I glued this piece inside the card.

I am linking to my YouTube video at the bottom of this post if you want a more detailed description of the process.

This card is a little bit chunky because there are so many layers for the candy jar, but I actually think that it is a good thing because it just adds to the dimension of the ghosts on the outside of the jar.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have an incredible day!

Sandy
