Christmas Cuckoo Clock

Cuckoo clocks remind me of my Grandpa and Grandma.  My Grandpa's family were immigrants from Germany and while I never met them, I loved to listen to my Grandpa pray in German.  When I saw the Cuckoo Cottage Collection from Spellbinders, I knew I had to have them.

For this card, I wanted a Christmas card, but I wanted it to be more woodsy than cute, so I used just a few of the pieces from the Chiming Christmas Etched Dies along with the Cuckoo Cottage Etched Dies.  The inner background for my card was created with the Bow & Bell Scallop Frame with Christmas colors of papers.

I used the Snap and Slide disk from Pear Blossom Press to make my pendulum swing.  I think that the main purpose for these disks are for slider cards but they also work well for cards that have swinging elements. Once I determined where I wanted my pendulum to hang on my card, I used a die about 3/8" to cut a circle opening.  Once I had the disks snapped together, I felt like I needed to place foam tape on the back of my background to even the paper with the height of the disk.

Once I had my foam in place, I peeled off the protective tape and placed it on my card background.  the picture below shows that there is a good amount of space between the cardstock and the top of the disk for the pendulum to swing.

Next I snapped the pendulum in between to the two disks.

I needed to lift my cuckoo clock up so that the pendulum could swing back and forth, so I added foam tape to the back of my clock.  The I adhered it to over the pendulum.

Once I had my clock in place, I added the pull chain pieces, making sure that they were glued down well so that the pendulum doesn't get caught up on them.

I just love all the little details on each piece of this clock!

Thank you for stopping by today.
