Cozy Bear Sweet Shop Shaker Card

Hello friends!  I am always looking for ways to incorporate older stamps and dies with newer ones that have come out.  It helps me stretch creatively and it definitely stretches my stash.  I have really enjoyed the newest release by Trinity Stamps. I just can't seem to leave the A-2 Window Box Card Die Set and the Gashapon Machine Die Set alone.  I was working on another card the other day and thought that the combination of these two dies would create the cutest shop card.  I previously created a card where I used them for a beach treat stand, so I this time, I used them to create a candy shop.

To create the shaker well for this card, I used the A-2 Window Box Die Set.  I cut 100lb cardstock to 5.5" x 8.5".  I secured the widow die in the large die piece with temporary tape and then butted up the short side of the cardstock up to the part of the die that would create a scored line if I was using the whole piece. I ran it through my die cut machine to created what I will call the "shop shaker well"

I cut 6 of the shop shaker wells from 100lb white cardstock and one from the patterned paper that I was going to use for my shop front.

I glued the 6 pieces of what cardstock together and set them aside while I stamped and colored my images.

I used the Cozy Bear Sweet Shop Stamp and Coordinating Die Set.  I colored them with Copic markers in the following colors:

  • R32, R14
  • BG11, BG13
  • B0000, B00
  • YG01, YG05
  • Y15
  • YR31, Y38
  • E21, E34, E35
  • RV10, RV21, RV04
  • C0, C1, C3, C5, C7
I did a little masking on the candy counter and the "Sweets" sign.  I removed the cash register on the counter and the bracket that holds the sign.  I used the die set to cut the other images out.

I cut the image of the candy counter so that it would fit behind the store shaker well.  Once it was cut to size, I glued it to the back of the well.

I cut a piece of patterned paper to 5.25" x 4.0" and glued it on top of a piece of purple cardstock cut to 5.5" x 4.25".  This will be the background for the front of my card.

I glued the shop shaker piece to may patterned paper background.  Then I filled the well of the shaker with Dot Dot Hooray Confetti Embellishments and Opaque Magenta Shaker Pops.

I glued a piece of acetate to the back of the store front that was cut from patterned paper.  Then, I glued the candy jars to the acetate so they will be on the inside of the shaker well.  In order to keep the jars from falling backwards in the well, I put a piece of tape across the back of them.  This will also prevent the little shaker pieces from getting in between them and the window.  Once the jars were secured together, I glued the entire back of the shop front piece and sealed the shaker elements inside.

After I assembled the awning, I glued it to the top of the shop and glued my little friends to the bottom of the shop.

I made a card base from white cardstock cut at 5.5" x 8.5" scored at 4.25".  I folded this in half.  I have another piece of white cardstock at 5.25" x 4.0" and used the Simply Sentimental: Sweet stamp set for the sentiment.  I also used a few of the stamps from the Cozy Bear Sweet Shop to add a few little pieces of candy near the sentiment. I glued this piece of the inside of my card base.

To finish the card, I glued the card front to the card base.

I just love the way that this card turned out and I can't wait to make more little shops for Christmas or Halloween.  I think you could even do one for the 4th of July.

I have linked my YouTube process video below if you want a more detailed tutorial.

Thank you so much for stopping by today - I hope I have inspired you to make a little shop of your own.
