Oh my goodness! This is such a cute set from Trinity Stamps. It is called Milky Way. The stamp set definitely has a retro vibe. I love 40's and 50's art and collectibles so I decided to go with it.
Starting with the background, I used the Retro Diamond Stencil with Saltwater Taffy and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink. This is a three piece stencil step but I used just the two that created the diamonds because I wanted to keep some white on the background which is very unusual for me.
At first, I was just going to use it just as it was stenciled, but it felt really naked and wasn't really catching a retro vide. I added some of the retro looking stamps directly to the background by heat embossing them with black embossing powder, which pulled in the "malt shop" feeling. I didn't stamp in the center of the card because I wanted to put a "chocolate milk" moon in the center. I also heat embossed the sentiment at the bottom of the card. This sentiment just cracks me up!!!
I created the moon, by cutting it out of a light brown cardstock using a die from the Clean Cut Layers - Circle: Set A. I used the 10th in from the outside for the moon. I placed the Full Moon Stencil on top and inked the crater/surface with Doe Ink from Lawn Fawn.
My images were stamped and die cut from the Milky Way Stamp and coordinating die set. The images were colored with COPIC markers in the following colors:
- R21, R22
- E53, E55
- YR61, YR65, E97
- Y02, Y06,Y19
- B0000, BG01
- C0, C3, C5
After I glued all the little pieces to the moon, I popped up the whole piece with some foam dots to give it some dimension.
I think this is just the cutest stamp set and I have a few more ideas swimming around in my head.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!!!
Sandy
