Christmas Greetings Earthling

GREETINGS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS EARTHLINGS!!!!!

Oh my goodness!!! This was such a fun card to make.  This past spring, Trinity Stamps released a bunch of Outer Space themed stamps and dies.  I have to admit, that I loved everything that came out in the release and had so much fun playing with all the things.

Fast forward to the current release - I love the new Snowglobe Circle Card Add OnWhen I sat down to play with the new Tiny Santa and Tiny Elf Dies, I got to wondering if any of those accessories would work with the Tiny Alien.  Surprise!!!!  The Tiny Elf Hat, Collar and Shoes worked perfectly.  Hence - the idea for a Christmas snow globe with aliens!  I tossed around the idea of using the new Tiny Tree in the globe, but the little rocket from the Blast Off Die Set won.

When I make these little die cut friends, I like to adhere double sided adhesive tape to the back of the cardstock before I cut them out with the die.  This really helps make it easier to assemble without getting glue all over your fingers and pieces.  I have also found that if you work on a piece of teflon sheet, you can build smaller pieces and move them to larger pieces very easily.  I love this!!!

To create inside background, I inked a piece of white cardstock with Tumbled Glass, Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink.  Once the ink had dried, I hot foiled the cardstock using the Starfield Letterpress with silver glimmer foil.  To create the moon surface I used a light gray cardstock and used the Crater Layers Layering Stencil and Die cut with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink.

I used the Snowglobe Circle Card Add On to cut the inside of the snow globe.  I used the same piece to cut out the frame pieces eight times.  I glued them together to create the embellishment well. I cut out the same number of bases to make sure that once the globe was built, everything was even.  If you refer to the picture below, I used the die that created the inside of the globe to cut out a part of the base to help me create that even surface.

I filled the sprinkled some Holiday Holographic Metallic Confetti.  This is my absolute favorite Christmas mix.

To close the shaker card, I used half of the Circle Card Die to cut the right size circle.

I had initially planned on using the Circle Card Die to make the card, but once I had put it all together, I didn't like the way the back of the card felt so flimsy compared to the front which had so many layers.  I decided to make a square card, so I cut a piece of cardstock 10.5" x 5.25 and then scored it at 5.25".  I cut a piece of red cardstock to 5.0" x 5.0" and a piece of patterned paper 4.75" x 4.75" and layered them all together.

To finish the card, I glued the sentiment and trim pieces to the snow globe base.  I used the Mini Winter Greetings Die for the sentiment.

This card just tickles me!  I am so glad that I was able to use the cute little alien again for a Christmas card.

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy card making!!

Sandy
