Grab A Ghost Gashapon

Today I’m sharing another card that’s a little spooky—but definitely more fun than fright! This time, I used the gashapon die set to create a light-up shaker card. These adorable Fall Stuffies by Trinity Stamps are just waiting to be picked, like pumpkins in a haunted pumpkin patch—but I bet you’ll earn extra points when you “Grab a Ghost!” The best spooky surprise? The card actually lights up. How boo-tifully cool is that?

I cut this card front using the Modern Embossed A-2 Square Window Panel Die.  I used the little ghost from the Fall Stuffies Stamp Set to stamp a tone-on-tone background and just lightly dusted the edges with a bit of Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Ink.  I used the Gashapon Die Set to cut out all the little elements that make this fun "machine".  Once I had the light bar at the top of the machine, I used my Pick Up Tool to pierce the center of three lights, for the little battery-operated lights that I will install on the back of the card front.  I used the 8-Bit Birthday Stamp Set to add the fine lettering that add so much authenticity to the machine.  I also use the Paper Crafting Magic Stamp Set to heat emboss the directions for the recipient.

For the background of the machine, I used the Window Panel Die to cut a piece of white cardstock.  I used this die to cut the background so I could line up that window opening perfectly with the front panel.  I inked the square that makes the inside of the window with Squeezed Lemonade, Mermaid Lagoon and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide.  To help create dimension, I glued my little stuffy along with the machine claw on this background piece.

I glued more stuffies up against the mylar window of the front panel of the card because I didn't want my shaker bits to be hidden behind my little friends. I used double sided tape to the battery pack at the bottom of the card.  I ran the wires up the side of the card and taped the little lights behind the openings.  I used 3mm foam tape not only to accommodate the batter, mechanism but to create a well for the shaker bits.  I filled the well with Opaque Orange and Opaque Purple shaker pops.  I had thought about using some Silver Sparkle Stars, but I didn't want them to slide in front of my stuffies and get caught.  I still used the Silver Sparkle Stars to decorate the background of the window and the front of the card.

I used Copic markers to color my spooky friends in the following colors:

Once I had my card front all put together, I glued it to a card base.  I used a combination of sentiments for the inside of the card to finish it up.

I hope this inspires you to conjure up your own frightfully fun “Grab a Ghost” game!

Sandy
