Another Orbit Double Slider Card

Greetings fellow Earthlings!  Today I have a card that was so fun to make.  I love interactive cards and this is a new die from Trinity Stamps called Emergency Card Die Set #3 - Double Slider.  It is one from Sassy's LLC Collection.  I have also used the new Another Orbit Stamp Set and coordinating Dies.

The background on this card has been ink blended with Salty Ocean, Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink on white cardstock.  Make sure to ink enough cardstock for the pull tab and bottom slider piece.

I wanted to use the Starfield Letterpress Plate, but I also wanted to put the little star cluster from the Out Of This World Stamp Set.  I stamped and heat embossed the star cluster first.  When I went to hot foil the rest of the background, I used the the coordinating die mask it off before I foiled it.

For the two slider piece, I cut them out and then foiled them separately from the main background.  I used Skybright Glimmer Hot Foil from Spellbinders for this project.  I cut the background to 4.0" x 5.25".

I found this to be a pretty easy mechanism to create.  This was the first card I made, so I followed along with Sarah Lihz of Sassy's LLC's YouTube Video.  I have also linked my YouTube Video at the bottom of this post.

Once I had my card built, I applied my little friends and the sentiment.  The sentiment is included in the Another Orbit stamp collection.  Once I stamped and heat embossed it, I used the coordinating die to cut it out. I also used a few of the planets from the Out Of This World Stamp Set and coordinating dies.

My friends are colored with Copic Markers in the following colors:

  • B0000, B00, B01 - Flag
  • BO2, B04, BO5 - Planet & Astronaut
  • T02, Y06, Y19 - Yellows
  • Y35, YR07, YR09 - Oranges
  • V04, V15, V17 - Purple
  • N2, N3, N6 - Gray
  • B00, B02, B04 - Earth

I adhered this mechanism to a piece of cardstock cut to 4.25" x 5.0".  I usually have a border around all of my cards, however, I found that by doing this, I made it a little difficult to pull the mechanism.  In the future, I will use die to cut a notch in the background piece also.

This card was so much fun to make that I was inspired to make another one with two pop out sliders and one in the center of the card.  It will be on another post and YouTube video.

Stop by my YouTube Channel for more details on the process of this card.  Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Sandy
