We Go Together Like Mac and Cheese!

Hello friends!  Today I have a card I created with the new Trinity Stamps Extra Cheese and Brie-lliant Sayings stamp and die sets.  The cheesy puns are just so darn cute!

For the background on this card, I inked a piece of white cardstock with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink. Using the Cheesy Background Stencil, I inked the openings with Dried Marigold Distress Oxide Ink.  Right now, I am all about the Tim Holtz Distress Spritzes - I love them!  I spritzed the background with just a little Fossilized Amber Distress Spritz to give my background a little dimension and shimmer.  Once my cardstock was nice and dry, I used the little macaroni to randomly stamp with a light brown ink.

To finish my card's background, I cut a circle using the Clean Cut Layers: Circle Set A die set.

I colored my little images using Copic Markers in the following colors:

  • YR30, E50
  • YR31, Y17
  • RV13, RV21
  • R21, R22
I know that the yellow cheese is probably supposed to a Swiss, but I liked the size of it the best, so that what I used.  Maybe it's a block of cheddar that a mouse got into!

For the sentiment, I used one from the Brie-lliant stamp set.  I heat embossed it with white embossing powder and then trimmed it.

I found that I needed to put something between my little images and the background because they were blending in just a little bit too much.  The fix was to place a vellum heart between the two and that was just perfect.  I used the Lacy Heart Stackables from Lawn Fawn for that piece, but you could use any appropriately sized die.

I glued my images on the vellum and then used foam squares to pop it up.  Remember that vellum does not play well with most things, so try to hide your foam pieces behind the mac and cheese.

To make my card, I cut a piece of cardstock, 5.5" x 11".  I scored the paper at 4.25" and folded it.  Using the same die that I used to cut out my background, I placed it just slightly off the creased edge (left side), still making sure that it would still cover the right side of my folded card, and ran it through the die cutter.

For the inside sentiment, I stamped it using the Simply Sentimental: Happy stamp set with black ink.

This made such a cute Valentine's Day card but you could definitely use it for other occasions depending what you put on the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a great day!

Sandy
